Not Seeing Stars is a collaboration between filmmaker Adrián Landeros and English musician Anisha Ayyappa, known for her solo project Ananse and the Moon. A multi-instrumentalist and composer of Indian descent, Anisha brings a raw, intuitive energy to her music—one that guided the tone and rhythm of the shoot itself.
Filmed over two days in the mountains of San Sebastián Río Hondo, Oaxaca, the video is a meditation on transformation and creative instinct. Leaves, branches, insects, and stones become sonic companions—interpreted as instruments through movement, texture, and close-up detail.
The performance sequences were captured inside a cave several kilometers deep, where a single shaft of natural light from above cast the scene in an otherworldly glow—something between a full moon and a vision. Macro shots of beetles, recorded later during the rainy season, weave into this world like totems or omens, echoing the track’s dark, earthy atmosphere.
Made entirely by the two artists, Not Seeing Stars is both a visual experiment and an intuitive ritual—where nature, voice, and camera meet in the hands of a solitary, spell-casting woman.
