Antes del Tiempo is a short film created for the eighth anniversary of the Teatro del Bicentenario in 2018. Conceived as a visual journey into the forces that shape artistic creation, it reflects on the tension between space and spirit—between the place where art is presented and the inner spark that brings it to life.
Filmed inside the Forum Cultural Guanajuato, one of Mexico’s most ambitious cultural complexes, the piece moves through the Teatro del Bicentenario and its adjoining museum spaces—vast, solemn, and architecturally stunning. At its center, a man and a woman dance among classical Greek sculptures, channeling a symbolic dialogue between feminine and masculine creative energies.
Interwoven are fragments from Romeo and Juliet, capturing Juliet’s final act of love and sacrifice, along with abstract imagery of the theater’s architecture—photographed by Carlos Davis Colín—suggesting that death may be the final act of surrender to the splendor of life.
Antes del Tiempo is a poetic exploration of the spaces where art is both exhibited and experienced—a reverence for silence, structure, and the timeless forces that make creation possible.
